Bacopa Lanigera, commonly known as Hairy Bacopa, is a larger variation of Bacopa originating from Brazil. Appearance wise, Bacopa Lanigera is similar to Bacopa Caroliniana, but can be distinguished by slightly rounder leaves along with small white hair-like fibers covering the stem. This aquarium plant also has noticeable venation that is typically lighter than its leaves producing natural contrast. Due to its larger size, this aquatic plant is more suitable for larger sized aquariums, but may work in smaller tanks as long as it is pruned accordingly.
When possible, we always recommend providing aquarium plants with CO2 injection to improve health, boost growth rates and increase color vibrancy. Bacopa Lanigera provides unique texture and frequent trimming will allow the plant to branch off, creating denser plant groups. At a minimum, we recommend using a nutrient-dense aquarium soil to help the plant establish a strong root system. Bacopa Lanigera is versatile and can be grown in terrariums, vivariums and paludarium setups as long as proper care is provided. When care is optimal, Bacopa Lanigera blooms blue-violet flowers above the surface. To propagate, cut along the stem and replant into the substrate.
