Blyxa Aubertii, sometimes referred to as Roundfruit Blyxa, is a true aquatic plant species that are normally found in a wide variety of habitats such as rice paddies and streams. Blyxa Aubertii is still relatively rare despite being used in the planted tank hobby for quite some time and is most readily available through trading. This aquatic plant is generally easier to keep and hardier when compared to its more known counterpart, Blyxa Japonica. However, Blyxa Aubertii still does best when provided with quality aquarium LED lighting, CO2 injection, quality aquarium soil, and a regular fertilizer regime. If dosed with iron, this aquatic plant also has the potential to gain deep reddish tones but should be handled with care as it has fragile leaves. We recommend using this aquatic plant in conjunction with grass-like plants such as Cyperus Helferi, Potamogeton Gayi and more.
Propagation is simple and can be done by separating side shoots that grow from the mother aquatic plant and replanting into quality aquarium soil.
