Bucephalandra Boyan Mini Narrow is a rare Buce species that isn't commonly found in the planted aquaria hobby. This particular variation is a small to medium sized specimen that is primarily green in color with hints of purple undertones. Its leaves are slightly rounded with a pronounced central vein that runs down the center of each leaf. Like other Bucephalandra plants, Buce Boyan Mini Narrow is suitable for the midground area of a planted aquarium and can be grown in both low and high tech conditions. Because these plants are slow growers, they are more prone to algae growth when maintenance isn't consistent, so an area that provides a bit of shade is ideal. If placed under bright open light, maintenance must be consistent and thorough to prevent this. Leaves that older, have holes or are decaying can be pruned to encourage new growth. Bucephalandra Boyan Mini Narrow is epiphytic and grows best when attached to surfaces such as aquarium driftwood or aquascaping stones. We recommend low to medium lighting for this little Buce species along with good flow, quality aquarium plant nutrition and a well-maintained tank environment. CO2 injection isn't necessary for most Buce species, but it will surely help bring out the best colors that are commonly sought after when growing Bucephalandra.
The stem and rhizome should not be covered when planting as this will cause the plant to rot and wither. Care can be comparable to other popular aquatic plant species such as Anubias and Java Ferns, but Bucephalandra will not tolerate sudden changes well.
