Echinodorus Osiris Rubra, more commonly known as the Melon Sword, is a plant in the Echinodorus family. This aquarium plant features large rounded leaves with a prominent vein pattern when inspected closely. Like other Echinodorus plants, the Melon Sword falls on the larger side of the growth spectrum and will fill the background area of a planted tank nicely. Like all aquatic sword species, Echinodorus Osiris Rubra is beginner-friendly and will tolerate a wide range of aquarium conditions and water parameters. This plant can grow submerged in the aquarium as well as in emersed condtions making it suitable for Wabi Kusa builds and other emergent growing methods.

The Melon Sword is a heavy root feeder and will benefit from a nutritious substrate and the addition of nutritional capsules or root tabs later down the road. Propagation is straightforward and can be done by gently separating plantlets and replanting into quality growing mediums.
