Ghost Wood is a beautiful hardscape choice that offers a similar appearance to Manzanita Driftwood. This driftwood is newer in the planted tank hobby, but can be commonly seen in the terrarium and vivarium hobby. This driftwood is sandblasted, producing its pale hues of brown and beige when dry. However, once Ghost Wood is submerged in the aquarium, colors and striations deepen, becoming more apparent and visible especially when paired with aquarium tank LEDs. The overall flow and shape of this driftwood is what makes Ghost Wood a top contender for nature style aquascapes. Ghost Wood's many twists and knots work well for triangular scapes or for creative centerpieces in the planted aquarium. We recommend pairing this driftwood with your favorite Anubias, Bucephalandra and aquatic ferns!
Like all aquarium driftwood, Ghost Wood is very buoyant and we highly encourage allowing it to soak thoroughly or boiling the pieces to ensure they are fully waterlogged before designing and filling a planted aquarium tank.
TIP: Tannins leeched from wood will provide a natural tint to water, but will gradually dissipate based on the frequency of water changes.
Tannic acid is not harmful to livestock but it will lower pH levels slightly. Alternatively, consistent water changes can be done and the effect of tannins will subside on its own naturally with time.-
