Hemianthus Micranthemoides AKA Pearl Weed is a bright green, low-growing stem plant perfect for beginners. It is a versatile species and can be used for foreground, midground, and background placement. Constant pruning will keep it low growing and encourage the spread of runners horizontally. Leaving it untrimmed will allow it to grow vertically as a background plant. The shape and growth of the plant are dependent on the conditions so planning is highly recommended if you have a specific vision for how it will fit into your aquascape. Similar to other carpeting plants in appearance, it can be a low-maintenance alternative for foreground coverage.

This plant grows best with moderate light and CO2. However, H. micranthemoides can get necessary nutrients from a rich substrate and healthy fish colony. For super dense growth, provide higher lighting and CO2. While moderate light will produce looser, vertical growth. Once H. micranthemoides has established, pruning is necessary as it has the capability to grow unruly when left without care. This plant will tolerate substantial pruning, so you can let it grow large and dense and then trim it into a desired shape if you wish.
