Homalomena Insignis is part of a rare family of flowering aquatic plants within the same realm as Bucephalandra. Characterized by thick, waxy leaves, Homalomena Insignis also bears beautiful bright coral-pink coloration that provides a lovely contrast to more common green aquatic plants. Because of its rarity, the likelihood of a local fish store carrying this plant is slim to none. Similar to Buce, Homalomena Insignis is quite easy to care for and can be grown submerged or emersed. Homalomena species don't require excessive aquarium lighting to thrive as it is slow growing and excessive lighting can cause algae growth on its leaves, much like Anubias and Buce. Homalomena is generally found in fast flowing rivers across parts of Asia and South America and can often be found as a common houseplant.
