Hydrocotyle Verticillata is a beautiful species of Hydrocotyle that can be grown in both submerged aquarium settings and emersed environments. When grown in aquariums, this aquatic plant retains its trailing behavior and produces shield-like leaf pads that add varying texture to any planted aquarium tank. Optimal conditions include soft water, CO2 injection, nutrient-dense aquarium soil and medium lighting. This aquarium plant species may be used near the mid ground and can also be considered as a unique foreground aquatic plant. Hydrocotyle Verticillata, sometimes also known as Whorled Pennywort or Shield Pennywort, is a great aquarium plant for beginner hobbyists as well as experienced aquascapers who are seasoned in caring for aquatic plant species. Hydrocotyle Verticillata can grow quite large emersed and is a wonderful species to grow!
Propagate by trimming stems and replanting. Alternatively, pull apart dense clumps, splitting the roots, and replant. New shoots can be trimmed anywhere along the stem thus allowing the plant to grow thicker and more compact.
