Ludisia Discolor, commonly known as Jewel Orchid, is a beautiful house plant that offers bold contrast to any existing collection. Its leaves are a dark green that can appear almost black with white stripes running across. While most orchids are coveted for their flowers, this particular plant is loved for both its flowers and foliage. When mature and provided with good conditions, this plant produces pink-white flowers that pop well against its darker foliage making it perfect for anyone who loves an ornamentel feature in their plant collection. This Jewel Orchid is relatively undemanding and grows in low, shady areas naturally so it can be considered a low light demanding species. We recommend an Eastern or Northern exposure or grow lights. Direct sun coming from a Western or Southern exposure is a little strong for this plant and should be filtered to avoid damage and stress. Ludisia Discolor are generally easy to propagate and will grow to be sizeable with minimal effort making them a great plant to share with friends and family.

Water requirements are simple and it's best not to overwater Ludisia Discolor. Allow the medium to dry then water well. Humidity is preferable, but Ludisia Discolor is fairly tolerant of standard household conditions. We recommend providing the Black Jewel Orchid with an airy mix to ensure good drainage.
