Ludwigia Sphaerocarpa is a rare species of Ludwigia that is not commonly seen in the planted aquarium tank hobby. With limited information known about this aquatic stem plant, Ludwigia Sphaerocarpa is a delight to see in a planted tank. Like most aquarium stem plants, it can be grown submerged in aquarium settings and has the capability to grow emersed when provided with good care and optimal emersed environmental conditions.

Ludwigia Sphaerocarpa's submerged and emersed forms are very different! Emersed form displays narrow green leaves while when kept in an aquarium tank, Ludwigia Sphaerocarpa produces a compact, rosette-like appearance with varying tones of orange-brownish and green. Due to its unique appearance, Ludwigia Sphaerocarpa works well when paired with a variety of aquarium plants. Using a quality aquarium soil along with high aquarium LED lighting is important and because this aquarium plant is slow-growing, CO2 injection will aid in promoting quicker, robust growth. When provided with all factors mentioned, Ludwigia Sphaerocarpa has the tendency to exhibit a creeping growth pattern making it a great choice for the midground to the background of larger planted aquarium tanks.

Simple to propagate, Ludwigia Sphaerocarpa can be treated the same as other aquatic stem plants: simply cut the stem and replant the trimmings into quality aquarium soil.
