Microsorum Pteropus 'Windelov', more commonly known as simply Java Fern Windelov, is a  popular variation of Java Fern.  This aquatic fern is popular amongst beginner aquarists for its easy care and bold green color but is also a loved favorite with seasoned hobbyists. Java Fern species are very versatile, provide great coverage, fill space in a planted set up well, and can handle considerable amounts of neglect. Java Fern is adaptable and can be grown in the aquarium, terrarium, vivarium, and paludarium settings both above and below water levels. Java Fern is forgiving and can handle a wide range of water parameters. Windelov is easily recognized for its split ends and bushy appearance.

Java Fern plants are epiphytic and will grow happily when attached to aquarium driftwood, aquascaping stones, or any aquarium decor. We recommend providing Java Fern with clean water, low to medium lighting, and good flow for starters. A quality aquarium plant fertilizer paired with CO2 injection will be beneficial in the long run and can help to promote quicker, bushier growth. Propagation is easy and straightforward; simply cut or pull apart rhizomes to be replanted/reattached.
