Taxiphyllum sp. 'Peacock,' commonly known as Peacock Moss, is a popular aquatic moss used in aquariums and terrariums. Native to Southeast Asia, it does best in slow-moving or still waters and can be found encursted on rocks, driftwood and other submerged natural surfaces. It features rich green color and delicate, feathery fronds, making it a favored choice for aquascaping and terrarium building.
Peacock Moss also provides excellent shade and coverage for shrimp, fish and other microfauna. It can be attached to hardscape material to create tree-like structures, cover unnatural cuts or simply left free floating or placed in the foreground. After it establishes itself in a healthy planted aquarium tank, it grows to be quite thick as opposed to the more common Java Moss. It is quite forgiving and can be grown in a wide range of aquarium conditions and water parameters.
Approximate size per portion is golfball.
