Ranalisma Rostratum is a small aquatic plantain that is still very rare and seldom seen in the planted tank hobby. With the ability to grow emersed and submerged, Ranalisma Rostratum displays complete opposite forms dependent upon the environment it is grown in. When grown emersed, this aquatic plant sprouts small, spoon-shaped leaves that almost resemble a member of the Echinodorus family. It will also produce small white flowers that bear little hedgehog shaped fruit forms. However, when placed underwater, Ranalisma Rostratum transforms into almost a grass-like aquatic plant that will send bright green runners, producing an aquatic lawn that is close in appearance to aquatic plants like Helanthium Tenellum. In order to provide the best conditions, high aquarium lighting, CO2 injection, fertilizer routine, and nutrient-rich aquarium substrate should be utilized.  Just like other rosette species, this particular aquatic plant is beautiful in groups or by itself. Propagation is also fairly simple and can be done by separating via the runners and replanting into a quality aquarium substrate.
