Rotala Fujian is a newer variation of Rotala Rotundifolia originating from South China that is still relatively rare and on the more difficult side to obtain. This aquatic stem plant offers orange tones and produces more robust growth in the form of thicker stems and broader leaves. When compared to the original form of Rotala Rotundifolia, Rotala Fujian is similar and is relatively easy to care for with a quick growth habit. When this aquarium plant is given an appropriate environment, it will easily get unruly if regular pruning is not performed. Like other Rotala species, coloration is more vivid when this aquarium plant is provided with decent LED lighting, CO2 injection, softer water and a regular supply of nutrients.
We recommend using Rotala Fujian in the mid to background areas of a planted aquarium. It would work beautifully in a dutch-style planted aquarium or as a statement plant in a planted tank with majority green tones. Just like any other aquarium stem plant, Rotala Fujian is simple to propagate and can be done by trimming anywhere along the stem and replanting into quality aquarium soil.
