Rotala Red Cross, sometimes referred to as Rotala Araguaia Red Cross, is an interesting species in the Rotala family that exhibits bold color tones and a unique growth pattern. Considered an advanced aquarium plant, Rotala Red Cross features thin leaves that sprout from the main stem with a varying color palette of greens, yellow and red tones with colors being more intense towards the top parts of the stems. Depending on the condition it is kept in, Rotala Red Cross may produce a slight twist in its leaves making it a unique Rotala species to add to any planted aquarium tank.
Like many species of Rotala, Rotala Red Cross is suitable for the mid to background areas of a nature aquarium and should be planted in areas that receive plenty of aquarium LED lighting. CO2 injection along with quality aquarium soil is recommended as well to promote lush growth. Propagation is simple and can be done by trimming along the stem and replanting in quality aquarium soil.
