Live portion of Sea Lettuce macroalgae. For best practice, always quarantine any new arrivals, regardless of the source, to ensure the health of your tank.
Ulva Lactuca is a nutritious and easy to grow macroalgae for saltwater aquariums. Better known as Sea Lettuce, it is recognized by its bright green color and delicate structure that is semi-translucent throughout. Macroalgae use in marine tanks is commonly associated with nutrient export in refugiums, thanks to popular types like Chaeto or Dragon’s Breath. However, this super seaweed offers a different benefit: It is fast growing and nutritious.
These qualities make it a solid, natural food to have on hand that most saltwater invertebrates and fish will happily snack on. It is also relatively hardy so long as it’s provided with strong lighting and moderate flow. When feeding, it’s best to offer it directly or use a device to keep it contained. The same goes for growing Sea Lettuce. Separate holding tanks or buckets are recommended since it can spread easily and root in the main aquarium display.
